CUSTOMISED
MARTIAL ARTS & FITNESS

We are dedicated to the traditions of Korean Martial Arts - Hapkido (합기도) and Taekwondo (태권도).

Hapkido and Taekwondo originates from Republic of Korea (ROK), hence our instructors learn from respected Korean Grand Masters in Malaysia as well as Master Classes in Republic of Korea. These annual Master Classes in ROK are also available to our students. You can follow our ROK (Masterclass) trips and Grand Master visits in Malaysia, see News section and our Facebook.

Experienced practitioners of Hapkido & Taekwondo are welcome to visit and evaluate our methods at our dojang (training hall). We welcome sharing. If you are keen to learn the philosophy of Sung Moo Kwan (Hapkido) and Chung Do Kwan (Taekwondo), please contact us for customised training.

For beginners, we encourage you to learn Hapkido & Taekwondo in our weekly classes.  For Taekwondo, we are registered instructors of Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquaters). In Hapkido, we are registered instructors of Korea KiDo Association (KiDoHwe) as well as Korea Hapkido Federation (KHF).

Globally, this is a unique Hapkido achievement. Our students have the benefit of membership of and certification by the pre-eminent Hapkido associations of Republic of Korea. Most important, our students can trace the lineage of their training to the original sanctioning bodies - Korean KiDo Association (KiDoHwe) and Korean Hapkido Federation (KHF).

Our instructors are also trained and graded in Close Quarter Combat. Officially, it is called Tukkong MooSool (TKMS) - based on an institutionalised syllabus for military Special Forces & Counter-Terrrorism, by Korean World Tukkong Association (KWTA).

KWTA is the official trainer for Korea's Special Forces White Tigers (707th Special Mission Battalion) and Blue House protection officers.

<Hapkido>
lifecraft asia - hapkido

Hapkido (HKD) (합기도) is one the few true "martial arts" remaining in the 21st century. It is not considered a sport and is extremely effective for real-world self-defence. We do not condone nor encourage violence. We teach Hapkido as a form of self-defence, if all else fails and you need to fight. The roots of this art form is in the military way of life during earlier times, when unarmed combat was not a spectacle but a necessity.

An evolved form of Hapkido is practised by South Korea's military Special Forces, "TukKong MooSool" (TKMS). We are trained and graded in TukKong MooSool.

The training regime of Hapkido is vigorous, emphasising naturalness and fluidity of technique. Economy of motion (minimal effort) and "follow-through" or "extension" is also emphasised. There are virtually no "hard-blocks" in the advanced stages, redirections being preferred for better results.

Sung Moo Kwan- 'Path to Martial Victory' School

Sung Moo Kwan (SMK) is the original school (clan) of Grand Master JI Han Jae (founder of the original Korea Hapkido Association).  The Head of this school is now Grand Master LTC Dr Julian Lim (certified 9th Dan, KIDO). SMK is registered with the Korean KiDo Association (KiDoHwe) & Korean Hapkido Federation (KHF).

Grand Master LTC Dr Julian Lim is recognised as the Head (Chong Kwan Jang - CKJ) of Sung Moo Kwan by the Korea Hapkido Federation (KHF) and is the last Korea Hapkido Association (KHA) certified Grand Master of Hapkido Sung Moo Kwan before KHA was de-registered early 2000's.

Hapkido focuses on 3 core principles:

  • Nonresistance or harmony 화

  • Circle principle 원

  • The Water / Flexible principal 유

Key Components:

  • Joint manipulation techniques

  • Throwing and Grappling techniques

  • Striking

  • Kicking

  • Weapons

We learn & practise Hapkido Sung Moo Kwan directly from Grand Master LTC Dr Julian Lim (certified 9th Dan, HKD) - CKJ of Sung Moo Kwan.

Chung Do Kwan

Taekwondo

Taekwondo (TKD) (태권도) - means 'The Way of Kicking and Striking'. This martal art is practiced in over 200 countries and is national sport of Republic of Korea (South Korea), a full Olympic event and the most prolific martial art in the world.

Taekwondo can be practised by persons of all ages, from 6 years to 80 years, and by either gender.

Chung Do Kwan (청도관|靑濤館) - The Blue Wave School

Chung Do Kwan (CDK) is the world’s oldest system or school of Taekwondo (TKD) and one of the original 5 great Kwans or Schools of TKD. CDK is one of the 2 largest TKD styles in the world. It was founded by Grand Master LEE, Won-Kuk in 1944. He received instruction directly from Gichin Funakoshi Sensei who was the founder of Japanese Karate. Its special fighting characteristics are the emphasis of deep power penetration, resulting in greater external and probable internal damage. Exponents (fighters) were some of the most aggressive and victorious during the early years of TKD (1950’s to 1960’s) in Republic of Korea.

The current Head of Chung Do Kwan is Grand Master PARK, Hae Man.

We learn & practise Taekwondo Chung Do Kwan under Grand Master LTC Dr Julian Lim, certified 9th Dan TKD Chung Do Kwan and 8th Dan Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo HQ).

Kick Boxing

Life Craft Asia - Fitness-280-Edit logo.jpg

Our Fitness Kick Boxing (FKB) program is based on Korean martial arts, as martial arts is one of the best full body workouts available. FKB gets you into shape whilst also giving you a taste of blended martial arts. It is an excellent way to improve your fitness and health.

Our FKB program is open to all - you are not expected to have martial arts experience.

This program is to improve flexibility, strength & enduarance. We also aim to instil a certain confidence in training your physical and mental well-being. Your confidence will improve because our training system is full-contact. Trainees will have real-world experience in punching, kicking and kneeing a specific target. Unlike other fitness programs, your target is real, not imaginary.

We are able to provide training with full-contact simulation in a controlled environment because of our extensive experience in martial arts.

For individuals without martial arts training or are generally unfit, this is the ideal program to get you started.

For absolute beginners, our FKB program has been broken down to allow for easy learning.

In addition to improving your fitness, our FKB program has some element of real-world self-defence (boxing and kicking skills). You will not a be a martial artist but at the very least, you can now defend yourself.
